Poses for Purpose: Yoga for Women’s Wellness in Palestine at Kalamazoo Backyard Yogis

Our (SW Michigan Voices for Humanity) yoga fundraiser was such a success, we decided to keep it going! This time, we are teaming up with Kalamazoo Backyard Yogis to bring you an ✨ indoor ✨ yoga event. Just like last time, all proceeds will be used to sponsor hygiene kits through Pious Projects, which will include sanitary pads, a hair brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton swabs, wipes, tissues, and other hygienic items depending on availability. We were able to donate almost 70 kits last time; let’s make it our goal to surpass that this round!
Join us at Kalamazoo Backyard Yogis studio on Sunday, March 10th, at 3:30pm for a relaxing hatha flow led by instructor Brittany Muraoka of Eleven Eleven Yoga. There is a $10 reservation fee, and spots are limited.
The U.N. estimates that some 700,000 women and girls in Gaza experience menstrual cycles but don't have adequate access now to basic hygiene products like pads, toilet paper or even running water and toilets because of the war. These conditions put women and girls in Gaza at risk of reproductive and urinary tract infections.
As women, we reflect on the monthly discomfort we are all too familiar with, and our hearts are with these women that must feel terribly at this time. They do not have the proper hygiene products, privacy, or likely even a washroom. They certainly do not have the leisure to rest and recover. We can and must show them that we are with them; they will never be forgotten.
