What is Guild?
Well, I've been trying to narrow my thoughts about this new endeavor, but I always have a hard time with that. I usually look to my friends for help to be more concise. This time feels different though. Like I don't want to do that. I've been creating this list and reading the various definitions of the word GUILD and it has only made it harder to summarize. So, I figured I'd just share it all! The whole idea of guild is meant to be a shared venture, group directed, and defined by the community. So, I don't need to have it all figured out. I can just put it out there and get it started.

Why the quilt imagery?
Quilting has become a new pasttime of mine that feels deeply connected to old ways of living and creating. Quilts are heirlooms that are passed down over generations and speak to a time, a place and a person or group. Quilts are sometimes community projects, acts of protest, or may have even been used for guiding slaves along their journey to freedom. They are also a labor of love. And many times they are great ways to make new use of something that has lost its form or function. All of these things embody what I hope guild will represent. (And I just realized guild and quilt are very similar words! Woah.) Anyway, this is how my mind has been working lately as I think over this idea and get excited about what it could become.
