The Basics of Black & White Film Photography | Saturday, FEBRUARY 11, 12-3pm at Jerico
Has the world of digital photography and instant gratification got you down? Do you have an interest in shooting film but don’t know where to start? Join us for this very basic introduction to the core principles of photography as it applies to film. In this class, you will learn how to load a camera with film, read a light meter, and understand shutter speed and aperture controls. You will get the chance to shoot through a roll of black and white film around the Jerico property, see the developing process, and get scans of your roll within the same day! No camera is required to participate, however, if you have a 35mm film camera that you’d like to use, bring it along! Tickets are $75. Registration closes Feb 4th.
About the Instructor:
Hi. I’m Dave! I like photography a lot. More specifically, film photography. I do digital photography and graphic design stuff for work, but I do film photography for fun! I’ve been shooting on gelatin-coated silver halide crystals (film) for almost 20 years. I don’t know everything about it, but I do know a lot about it! I like lots of other stuff too. Not that it’s terribly relevant to this class, but I enjoy cooking, eating, traveling, and playing some music here and there. I graduated from WMU in 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, but I’ve been snapping photos ever since my Uncle Larry let me borrow his 35mm Nikon FM back in 2004.
